just bought new vermont l and of course had to splash out on all the bits to go with new tent, never tried camping before but looking forward to it, so have found a site i like but they want to charge me for 2 pitches as the size of tent which works out at 30 quid for one nite thought tenting was cheap anyone else had this problem

I would avoid that site. We had the Vermont L last year and never had any problems. We chose a tent we know would fit without problems as we had the Nebraska XL before that and every place wanted to charge us 2 pitch fees.

I would question the double fee as your tent is no wider than a caravan with an awning and they don't get charged double.

I have noticed a few sites that have decided to make their pitches unreasonably small at the beginning of the season but hope they would change that.

Like I said, just avoid sites that do that, there shouldn't be many for that tent as the size is reasonable. Maybe they are mistaken on the model.

Hi Debbie,

Like MamaBear, we've had the Vermont L 2 years now and never had a problem with pitch sizes. I am always careful to point out it's a tunnel tent and this seems to placate the awkward sites.

We were very much aware of problems that friends had with their tents that had pods coming off the main tent, ie. bedrooms. That's one reason we looked at the Vermont L and I can honestly say it's been a brilliant buy - I love it !!!!

Enjoy

Wow, very greedy. Ashame they have to be that way. You should never come across a size problem with the Vermont L.

What site were you going to?

I find it hard to believe that this campsite can charge you for 2 pitches for the Vermont L.  We have the XL and have never been charged for more than 1 pitch.  TBH I don't think we'd even consider going to a site that would charge for 2.

Maybe you should think again before you go there.

Thats just pure greed. The Maximum pitch size on C&C Club sites is 5m x9m so your vermont 415cm x 770cm would fit easily.Glad you named the site so others can see how greedy the owner is.
