I took two friends of mine camping last summer as they pestered me to let them come with me on my next trip, all I told them was to buy a decent tent and something decent to sleep on and in. They both turned up very pleased with themselve's having spent about £30 on an Asda tent, laughing at me for spending over £200 on my Diablo 600. I explained to them that my tent has been through storms, pouring rain and never leaked and never let me down. That night it rained and in the morning they all woke up soaking wet, cold and miserable as their tents had leaked in the night. I'm sure you can imagine my sympathetic response.
It's like many people say on here, you get what you pay for and if your going to be getting regular use out of your tent it's worth spending a few quid on a decent one.
It only showered when we took it to scout camp, but seemed ok, .... you put the fame up first, then attach the tent, then put the roof up, only took about five mins. the top of the tent (not the roof) is a fly net, then you put the roof over that - if you get what i mean! It's good ventilation but perhaps a bit too much if it was breezy!?

We have diabolical weather here currently, I cannot understand why anybody would opt for a tent that isn't of a decent quality especially with so many sales on all the time. You are just asking for trouble turning up in a poor quality tent.
If you are going to the effort of packing to camp, driving and spending money on fuel plus site fees surely it is a false economy to take a sub standard tent?
Well I look at it slightly in what may seem a odd way. In that competition is good as it means products have to improve.
Yes that means some people get to experience crap tents, but that surely is what this sites tent reviews section was designed for so customers can learn and compare. Also give the companies feedback.
We need to talk about the crap brands as much as the good brands to educate people about the quality problems, what do others think?
I see what you mean. I think there is probably a tendency to review your tent if you like it rather than have to admit to making a bad choice and giving a poor review of something.
we bought the cabin tent from Asdas and used it in pretty bad weather result yes it did leak a little splashing as the sides blew inwards with the wind.but stood up amazingly to the conditions for a summer tent. the blowing in of the sides in the wind was pretty bad it flapped about a lot but then it survived a really bad and stormy night another different type of tent on the site blew through.best bit is the room in it is great and you can stand.it does look like a wendy house or gingerbread house so expect some comments from other campers.other good bit is it's fast to erect, very worst bit is it can be freezing at night even in summer as the top is mesh , you can feel the wind blowing on you and soon get cold we covered half of the mesh roof up to keep it a bit warmer . Still it held up pretty well overall you just need very warm sleeping bags and keep away from the sides. We've since bought an outwell minnesota 4. The Asda one was a good and cheap one to try and see if you like camping but this I'd say is a summer only tent.
