That is certainly the case with some models, we have a 2007 Bear Lake and they aren't compatible. You need the type of sleeping pods that zip together which is a feature of the 2008 Bear Lake. I suspect other models will be the same.

2010
Easter - cancelled 8-(
April - Hawkshead
May - Riverside Cononley
May - Keswick Mountain Festival
May - High Yedmandale Farm
June - York Cycle show
August - Hartlepool
August - Riverside, Cononley
September - Pillaton "The Return"
Now there is a shock. I have a 2007 Bear Lake and have bought the kids room. As far as I can tell it will fit fine. You do not need to zip the sleeping pods together - or you don't in the 2007 model.
I will try it out in a couple of weeks and let you know.

Janners Hat, I wonder if you could tell me if the Kids room you have for your bear Lake is specifically for a Bear Lake 4 or Bear lake 6 or whether they are the same. We have just got one delivered for a Bear lake 6 but it is marked Bear Lake 4. I have no way of testing this until we go camping next week and would rather return it if it is the wrong one. As far as i can tell form the inner tent measurements they may well be the same. Not ben able to get hold of the my suppliers yet.

They are the same according to pj Camping (intertent.co.uk). It is a misprint. Its should say 4/6 on the box.
I have used a bear lake 6 kids room it has no side zips my BL6 is 2007 model and its great. I did see someone selling BL4 kids room on ebay which they thought would fit a BL6 it didn't. I think a company like Outwell would label their prouduct correctly if they were to fit both tents. Mine was clearly labelled BL6 on box and bag.
We have the 2007 Bear Lake 6 and were told by Taunton Leisure that the fixings were in a different position for the kids' room and that it wouldn't fit, and that if we tried it would strain the fabric which would damge the tent. We would really like this (or rather our children would!). Does the kids' room simply replace the smaller sleeping pod and hook up to the same points on the outer tent and floor without straining anything?
Taunton Leisure sold me a BL4 kids room for my 2007 model BL6 assuring me that it would fit. Seems whoever you ask you get a different story! The Outwell website clearly shows that the BL4 & 6 2 berth compartments are the same size and (subject to the fixings) means that the BL4 kids room will fit the BL6.
I will erect my BL6 and try and fit the kids room. then I will post a definitive answer - but don't expect me to do it in the next couple of days.

I thought I'd better update everyone on this: despite PJcamping (intertent.co.uk) assuring me twice over that the BL4 kids room would fit in BL6, I can now confirm after much annoyance (there are other faults with the tent and main inner too) this week on our first camping trip with new tent that the BL4 KIDS ROOM DOES NOT FIT THE BL6.
I also measured the spacings and fixings on the 2007 and 2008 models of the BL6, and the central point is around 25cm further to the right (as it is one zip-together unit now rather than two seperate pods). It would probably work with string and tape but having spent this much money on a tent I don't want to start lashiing it together! Think I'll save my money and move on now......

I can now confirm that the Kids room for the BL6 does not fit the 2007 model.
The wife says she will be cutting off the supports on the kids room and sewing new ones in to match the hanging points. Not all are out but there are a few.

Despite the problems, how do you or more accurately the kids like their rooms. I want to get one for my 3 year old to encourage him to sleep in there and not with me. He is a rugby player in the making and I'm always getting punched!!
I think it depends on their age - mine are 6 & 4 and desperate to "go exploring" in their kids room when it arrives later today. I hope they're not disappointed!!
