Hi, I have a Gelert Horizon 6 and am thinking about buying a canopy. On our last trip we had trouble with damp things, ie. nowhere to put them really but in the car and struggled cooking because of the rain. We're trying to decide between a utility tent and a canopy. The canopy for our tent looks good but I wondered if anyone that has one finds them useful for putting wet stuff in and standing the stove in when it's raining. I also thought it may be useful for allowing us to keep the door open in the tent to keep the air flowing when it's raining as last time, if we opened the door to let in some air the rain blew in.
Any comments would be really useful.

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Hi Christina. We've got the Gelert Alaska 8 which is very similar to your tent and we bought the Outwell side canopy for it last year (Gelert didn't make one of their own at the time). It cost about £70 I think but was money well spent and having the canopy on made a big difference. We used it for our stove and there was still room for the fold out table and chairs. The weather was fairly awful but the canopy meant we could leave the tent door open and have somewhere to chuck wet shoes etc.
I've never had a utility tent but one downside I can see is that you will probably be charged extra to pitch one, whereas we haven't had to pay extra for the canopy as its part of the tent.
Thank you all for that. I think it's fairly clinched and we'll buy the canopy. Thanks for the info about Makro but I haven't got a card, do you need a card? I seem to remember you do, but not sure?
I found some green ones. I didn't like the idea of a blue one against a green and grey tent, so kept looking.
This guy is double what Makro sell them for, but in the big scheme of things is still half the price of the Outwell version that originally took my eye and just as strong.
