Would you be good enough to check out this thread and let us know whether you have guy ropes coming out from the "frame"/either side of the front door from about half way down the black zip rain-guard?

The publicity photos on Outwell's website does have these guy ropes but several of us have tents that do not have them.  We are wondering whether the guy ropes are an addition to this year's model that wasn't on the 2007 and, therefore, we are wondering we have been sold a 2007 model under the pretence of it being a 2008.  (did all that make sense?)

So, if you would go to the other thread and let us know whether you gave these guy ropes and which year you bought it we would be grateful.

Many thanks.

Our Minnesota has got the guy ropes as described. We bought ours in April 2007.

RE the porch door pole,as I pointed out last year I thought this was a clear design fault caused by the pole having to bend over approx 180 degrees in such a short length. This then caused our pole to split, luckily we not yet had problems with the fabric.

My Minnesota was bought last month (£224 from the Tent Team) and it has a leaflet about the Kid's Room, so I reckon it's this year's model. It does not have the guy ropes halfway down, only from near the top. It would be reasonable to assume that the publicity photo is of a prototype model and that Outwell didn't bother to update it with the later model.

Fair point.  Thanks for that, David.

Have you had any problems with the side door (bent fibreglass pole putting too much train on the zip and fabric)?  I've just returned from Wales and used cable ties to attach the plastic brakets to the uprights and all problems disappeared.

I did the same as soon as I got the tent, thanks to the good advice given on this excellent forum! I won't say that all problems have disappeared, because there is still some strain on the side door zip, but it has improved things a great deal.

I also found that a cheap builder's tarpaulin was a heck of a lot cheaper than Outwell's footprint groundsheet!

not sure if this traile is still current? We've had ours since July 2007 and the only problem we have had is the snapped fibre pole over the porch. Have used this in bad weather, high winds, rain and snow ( Easter this year 4" of it!) and will be away again this weekend (19th Dec). Certainly needs a bit of a knack to get it up evenly but we have developed our own tecnique which seems to work OK for US. Happy to PM you pictures of ours if it helps. Let me have your address and Ill see what I can find.

Regards

Kevin & Carol

I must confess that I regret awarding the Minny only 7/10 stars in my review, as the more I use it the more I think that it is a really good tent.  I was probably just peeved at the silly, avoidable (though easily correctable) design fault on that side porch.  I now have the extension so the other issue of the porch giving little protection from the rain, so that you cannot just leave the door open, is no longer an issue.

I noticed those photos of you in the snow earlier in the year - most impressed.
