Hello all!

I have been looking for a 3man tent with a porch area big enough to sit under for the rainy days. I've seen the Vango Beta and Omega 350s which look good. I was wondering what anyone thinks about them or has any suggestions for others in a similar price range (£70-£90).

Are the Beta and Omega identical except for the poles and difference in weight?

Many Thanks. See you

Paul

Hi Paul & welcome to the forum

I can't help you with your query. However, I know there are regular members of this forum who own a Vango Beta, so I'll bump your post back up to the top, and hopefully, someone will give you the advice you need later today

Meantime, have a look at the 'tent reviews' on this site, as I know there are a few reviews on the Beta & also on the Omega I think.

Thanks for welcoming me!

I think we've pretty much decided on either the Omega or Beta. Seems to have a decent porch height and size compared to other similar sized tents. Just really need to know if the extra £30 for the Omega is worth it.

Also, how do you know you've got the 2008 version and not last years?

Oooooh, haven't got a clue, but at least this will bump it back up to the top again. Maybe all the members of this forum who actually own a Beta or Omega are away camping this week

Have you considered the Vango tamor 500? Much more size for your money! (£80)Porch and sleeping area are standing height but the added bonus is that it is easy to pitch and very stable. Bought it this year and given it two outings so far, much prefer it to my larger tents as I can pitch it on my own much to the amazement of other campers as I'm a small 50+ woman!

Thanks for the suggestion! I will look into it. Being able to stand would be a nice bonus. But not sure we need it.

I have the beta 250 which is a great wee tent,my son and I use it for our weekends away.We can put it up,all pegged out etc in around 10 mins and it is quite stable in winds. We can get a brew on in the porch if the weather is dodgy..it all depends what you are looking for in a tent, this meets our needs perfectly..good luck with your choice...
