Just back from the first trip with a new Bear Lake 6 and all was good until it threw it down on the last morning....
We had the curtains rolled down and later noticed that water had wicked up the curtain where it was stitched through at the bottom, which then dripped down inside the tent. Once the curtains were put back up again the dripping ceased but obviously the curtains were still getting wet.
The obvious solution is not to put the curtains down if there is a chance of rain but it's not ideal as they will still get wet and after prolonged rain may cause water to run down the inside of the canvas. Anyone else had this problem? There's no mention of it on the review pages.
Otherwise, fantastic tent (bulk and weight excepted!)

hi wombat Is this the first time your tent got wet ?? if so it should now be waterproof as because it is a poly-cotton tent the thread has to swell to become water resistant first. The norm is to put up tent in back garden and drench with hosepipe and allow to dry. Hope this helps. John
Ours leaked thru the first time it got drenched - through the same place - the stitching underneath the windows. We didn't have chance to weather the tent before we took it away, although Yeomanns did recommend "weathering". It only seemed to leak during the first downpour of the long weekend, but I am slightly nervy about taking it for a two week break with the chance that the stitching may be faulty, rather than it was leaking only because the cotton hadn't yet done its stuff...
I'm sure it'll be OK and won't spoil the holiday either way
Totally agree, it's just the material, not faulty stitching. ours leaked first time out(in the same places), i went and got seam sealer (didn't use it) i was sooooo disappointed. just after it dried, it threw it down with rain again (well it was wales!) and it was absolutely fine. once it's been soaked that's it, waterproof, even on subsequent (wet) trips. unless you leave the window open overnight...but that wasn't the tents fault
fantastic tent, pleasure to be in and around.

lol at "bear lake 6 plus trailer to put it in"...
Struggling without a trailer this year... but I think it'll be on my Christmas list for next year
I def underestimated how much boot space it takes up...
