Hi - we are wanting to sell our Coleman Bispace 400 as it was great for the two of us but now we have two children and need a bigger tent.  We are looking at a tunnel style tent, possibly a 8 man one.

We have seen a Vango Albany 800 which we like, a Sunncamp Haven 800 and also a Khyam Ontario 8.  Is there much difference in quality? Or are there any others we should be looking at?

We are thinking of a first trip to the Lake District so if anyone knows of any nice sites - smallish, relaxing ones rather than ones with lots of facilities and entertainment!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Khyam person here, but then again I know nuffin about Sunncamp. I tell a lie we do have one Sunncamp, it is tiny little thing my daughter plays in the garden with and we used to pitch it under the folding camper we had.
Its taken some abuse so I guess they must be OK also.

About as much use as a chocolate teapot wasn't I? Sorry

Hi

We've just bought a Outwell Indiana 8 from Norwich Camping for £299. Its an 8 berth tunnel but its not vis a vis its like the Montana with 6 berths across the back and the option of hanging a 2 berth pod at the other end which we probably won't.

In terms of a campsite in the lakes I would recommend the National Trust Great Langdale site. Ideal for families with small children.

Jen

I helped my friend put up her Khyam Ontario on Sunday (I think hers is a 6 though) and it didn't seem as easy as my tent but then that's also because her OH normally does it and she was having a crack at it for the first time (I didn't know tents came with manuals!) Their tent is nice but it's a bit dark inside and they end up sleeping one adult and one child in each end because they're nervous about the children sleeping by themselves on the other side of the living area. Maybe that wouldn't be so much of an issue with the 8.

Personally, I prefer the design of the coleman columbus (I'm a big coleman fan) because the children can sleep next to you (the 2+3 berth area is big enough that if one of you moves in the night the rest don't get woken) but you can also remove the bedroom inner the other side of the main area for additional living space.
