trev what tent was the pole from?
best advice is now you are home replace the broken section, a repair is ok to keep you going when you are away but best to replace at first opportunity

Replacement is the best option. Most good camping shops do spare lengths in a range of diameters, so you need to measure and get the right size. You will also need a pole threading kit with wire threader and elastic, also widely available at camping shops.

Our tent had a spare pole section in the bag with the other poles when we bought it.
