I'm sure I have read something here about the Arapaho 6DLX being easy to erect. If anyone holding that view could give me some tips, I'd be truly grateful. My first experience of trying to get the blessed thing up left me thinking it is all but impossible, and the minimalist instructions are precious little help.
I was saved by a friendly family on a neighbouring pitch, and between the seven of us we eventually managed the miracle. A few days later, another family turned up, also proudly bearing a new 6DLX. I felt honour bound to try and help them figure it out, despite the pouring rain, and this second attempt was no easier than the first.
The problem seems to be that if you put in all the poles as instructed, the porch and bedroom ones get in the way while you're trying to form the dome, and it becomes impossible to see what is supposed to go where. Wouldn;t it be better to put the three short poles in after making the dome?
I've had several tents over the years, and am not particularly stupid, but I have never before come across one that has made me want to throw in the towel and go home. Anyone care to offer an idiot's guide?
