I am in need of some advice about buying a weekend tent. We currently have a Vango Breckenridge 600 which we love, but is huge, heavy and takes a while to pitch. We want to get a 2nd tent for 1 or 2 night trips, but just can't narrow it down at all. We are 2 adults and 2 children & don't mind being a bit squeezed in for short trips but need to be able to squeeze two 130cm airbeds in the bedrooms (usually have 1 adult + 1 kid in each bedroom).

What we want is something that is quick to pitch, has a sewn in ground sheet and has a much smaller pack size than the breckenridge. We'd probably prefer to stay with a tunnel tent since that's what we're used to pitching. We really wanted another Vango so that we can use our canopy on both tents, but the albany 400 looks too small to fit our air beds in, not sure about the Yukon, had almost decided on the Orchy 500 but have read lots of messages whcih make me worry about how stable it would be in windy conditions. Having seen a friend's outwell Nevada I liked that a lot but I think everywhere is sold out for this year and we want one for later this month.

Can anyone help us decide?

Thanks for your help.

How about the Minnesota 4 or 6.  The 4 is large enough to get the two airbeds in though you will have to put your rucksacks in the living space during the night.

I've submitted a review of the Minny 4 on this site.  A good tent, served us well this summer but get a canopy or preferably the extension for it.

There are issues with the side entrance for both the Nevada and the Minnesota but it is easily corrected with the Minny in a way that would not work with the Nevada because of the use of fibreglass poles throughout (whereas the Minny uses steel poles) so I would not recommend the Nevada.

What about the Sunncamp Evolution 600? is easy to put up with great living area and SIG.

Have added a link to it here but is out of stock from that particular retailer. It doesnt state the pack size but does fit your other requirements of a SIG and sleeping area size. I have the 400 and it is really easy to put up with full head height to stand up in. I am not sure if your canopy would fix to it - there was somebody on here that put a universal canopy over the top of it but am not familiar with yours. I would say though that if you can put the canopy over it then it would make it much better.

Reviews of the 600 and 600dl and the 400

good luck finding your perfect tent

I'm looking for something similiar for a friend. She definitly wants a SIG and I can't remember off the top of my head which of the 4-berth tents have them.  Oh, and standing height please!  Any more suggestions?

We were thinking along the same lines but were looking at the Khyam rigidomes with the quick erect poles.
