I thought I had found our perfect tent having seen the Zanzibar 600 and loved it. I had a lovely, lovely bloke off here send me some great pictures of an actual Amazon 600 and i loved it still. I have spent ages trying to locate a tent display in the northwest with one actually up and today I finally found my unicorn...and was pretty disappointed to tell the truth.
It seems just too big and open to be a flysheet first polyester tunnel. It was pretty windy and it just seemed flimsy and flappy and not as substantial as I had imagined, having been in the Zanzibar (which is the same tent but is made of poly cotton not polyester). It was also really, really light but not, i felt in a good way as the light made the fabric feel even less resiliant. They had a Zanzibar 800 pitched a little way down and the difference in atmoshphere within the tent was almost tangible. I am so depressed. How pathetic!
Still not giving up on the idea completely we examined the pitching and decided that for windy conditions it left a lot to be desired and that more carful pitching would have made a big difference...Until passing the cheshire oaks tent display on the way home we saw an Amazon 800 pitched with all the guy ropes out behaving in a flappu flimsy way also! GRRRRRRRRR
So that's the sprayway valley 6 loved and lost and now the Amazon 600. At this rate we are going to end up with another diablo and play it safe. Funnily enough I am now interested in the Killington 600 but am worried about pitch sizes and ventialation and it not having a porch where I can seal in the toddler and seal out the wet shoes!
Linny x xx
PS I would have the zanzibar 600 in a hearbeat if i found another £300 stuffed down the sofa!
