Not very common I would think looking at the thickness of the poles. They are alloy not fibreglass.
BTW Ben no need to put your question in numerous threads, just one will suffice.Be patient waiting for a reply, remember many members are away at the moment.

well we had monsoon weather in cornwall last summer and I have to say despite a battering from the wind our montana 6 held up brilliantly!

we were in wales the gower in really bad winds and rain and the monty stood up to it all. even the extension stayed put the only damage was the winds were so strong they were pushing the sides onto one of our tables and before we realised a hole had worn through but we have mended that so no problems,

I think they're referring to the glass fibre pole for the porch. On the 2008 model this has been replaced with an alloy pole.

Our 2008 Monty 6 came up against some very strong winds and driving rain and stood up to it perfectly (with delta pegs).

My Montana has dealt with quite strong winds and I have bent a pole in the past trying to pitch in strong winds, but it would have to be a serious gust for one to snap. I would remember we are talking about tents and we have had some extreme weathers.

We've used our Monty 6 twice this year.  The first time, in April on Isle of Wight, we had gales, torrential rain, thunder and lightning and the tent stood up to it all.  (Better than my nerves during the thunderstorm).

Just come back from Devon where we had some pretty high winds and very heavy rain.  Again, the Monty survived and kept us dry and cosy.

likewise our Montana 6 has been fine in high winds. we are not seasoned campers and I remember being told by the shop if there are high winds don't pull the guys extremely tight - allow them a little bit of slack, takes the pressure off the poles. dont know if thats true but it was fine for us

Spent Spring bank holiday weekend in Cardigan, right on the coast. Our Monty stood up to the battering the weather gave us very well. We managed to stay longer than most campers, who abandoned their pitches during the night (there was also a few broken poles and tents left in the trash the next morning). The wind go so strong on the Sunday evening though, we had to abandon site. Nothing wrong with the tent, just that the ground was so sodden from all the rain, the pegs kept lifting out and the tent was lifting off the ground at times (very hairy!). Now bought delta pegs to solve that problem.

I forgot to mention the bit about delta pegs.  Wouldn't leave home without them.
