Hi All, We've just come back from Wales with our Monty 6 and have well and truly caught the bug and now as we still have three weeks of school holidays left I want to take the kids camping whilst OH is at work. It would be impossible for me to put the Monty 6 up without his help and have decided we could do with a tent that we can use at weekends as a family of four but also one that me and the kids can put up ourselves. Having the Monty 6 we're spoilt for space and don't want to compromise on that but a more lightweight tent seems ideal like the vango vista 800. I can't find any reviews for it here and wondered if anyone had used one and their experience. It's on offer at Go Outdoors this week only for £99.99 so a bargain I thought. Thanks again.

Geez.....£100 for a Vista 800? Bargain of the year!
But...how old are your kids? I have a five pole Vango Oregon 800 which is the slightly smaller cousin of the Vista 800, and though I'd be able to put it up solo on a calm day I much prefer having the help of my beefy 12 year old son, who's the same height as me these days and pretty good with tents. I'd be very unhappy if it was just me and my lightweight seven year old daughter in a strong wind. It's very dangerous for small kids to be "helping" with big sections of lightweight canvas on windy days. They can get caught up in it and dragged along the ground and into fences etc. Get something smaller if you've got small kids, something you can pitch and strike solo in most conditions. I have a Vango Oregon 600 which I used for mother and kid camping when son was younger and less help. It was plenty big enough for even four of us as a weekend tent while the kids were still happy to share a pod.
Maybe not such a good idea then eh? LOL! Any further suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

I agree that the Vista 800 is atill a big tent to manage - would a 6 berth be enough space? I can manage our 6 berth Vango Quest 600 completely on my own.
I've been looking at the vango tamor 500 now as its smaller and the reviews are good especially the one from a 50 year old lady who managed to put it up alone so I think I'll go with that one unless someone knows differently but thanks for all the advice. My kids are 12 and 8 but chocolate and tea pot spring to mind lol!

We have the Vango Vista 800 with sewn in groundsheet and its one of the easiest tents to erect that I have ever owned.Five poles to put through sleeves, ring and pin then peg out 30 -40 mins max if there is two people...1 hour if our grandchildren help..lol. We used it for two nights during all that really heavy rain and it did'nt leak at all.We paid £149 at gooutdoors and thought we had a real bargain, now its only £99,its a give away at that price..don't even think about it,just buy it.

Have to agree totally with VangoMan02 - we bought a vista 800 the other week, and used it in the rainy weekend just gone. Totally dry.
Really easy to pitch on your own. Just over an hour for me & I'm not a regular camper (this is our first lightweight 'modern' tent, our antique (!) Cabernon Rotunda wont fit in the car...).
