My friend is still narrowing down her weekend options and has come up with these two.
A Vango Orchy 500
or
A Vango Venture 500 with a Vango general canopy.
She wanted SIG (or as near to it) and a shelter for keeping out the rain. Does the Orchy have a canopy at all? I have owned a Venture before so can advise her on that but am not familiar with the general fit Canopy or the Orchy?
Thanks.

I have the Orchy 500 and large canopy and i love it, although the canopy isn't supposed to fit,it fits ok for me and keeps the rain out also gives loads of extra usable space. I put my kitchen in mine. First time i have had a sig and i wouldn't be without that either now. Anything inparticular she wants to know???
Hi again! Just had a look on tent reviews and checked out the review for the Vango Tamor 500 which is exactly the same (other than price) as the Vango Venture 500 and the large sun canopy seems to fit fine.
Yes the l.arge canopy does fit the VV500. I have a 2006 VV500 in blue and the 2007 large blue canopy which fits a treat. The only issue is that the rear guy rope on the canopy obstructs the side entrance door but that not a problem as we use the front door when the canopy is attached. Sadly I have no pictures but I can assure you it fits well.

The spec on the Orchy is good. Very stable in wind & dry in the rain.
But... and it's a major one. The inner is sewn in, so can't be removed. Take tent down on a wet day, and you can't (like most tents) take the inner out and keep it dry. Drop the tent and all that wet outer flysheet causes the inner (slepping compartment) to get soaked. Arrive at your new camp, put up the tent and all your inner tent is still soaked!!
If you go straight home after a wet camp, you won't have any problems.
I've got various tents of my own, so I'm familiar with SIGs etc. I think the Venture is coming out tops, I've had one of these so at least I know I can recommend it with confidence, but they didn't have the canopy when I had one. Does anyone have a link to where a canopy can be bought, when I've searched, there seems to be quite a few ... !

There are a few large sun canopys on ebay at the moment and Blacks are selling them for £39.99. If you go to my profile and click on to forum thread "Vango large canopy holes" - "I love what you've done with the place..." you can click on Funkydelia's picture of a Vango canopy fitted onto a VV500.
Hey that's fab! Thanks very much for pointing me that way. Outdoor Megastore are selling them at a good price too, I can send the link on, it's much better to see pics than try to imagine how it looks!

yes i have seen hotos on here somewhere of someone with an Orchy 500 with canopy ...don't think it fits exact but well enough.
we have an Orchy 500 and a canopy but have not used the canopy yet...
Love the design of the Orchy but found the dome section very bendy in high winds...
we have only pitched the orchy once to check it but found the front porch pole very difficult to get in, it seemed like it was a bit long, we got it there in the end with a bit of a struggle. have you had this problem twofishes.....or anyone else for that matter and if you have how do you 'get it in'
------------- A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.
