Thankfully nothing too serious but worth checking to see if there's anything we can do.

For those of you not familiar with the Evo 600, it has a plastic window overhead at quite a flat angle. It was dripping water between the seam of the window/fabric. From what I could see, there is another layer of transparent tape stuff so that all seams overlap in the correct direction - it's almost as if the water was having to go back uphill to get into the tent. Any ideas on a possible cure?

Having said this, it's only the tents 2nd outing and may need to weather a bit - and considering the rain its just seen, it didn't do too bad at all.

First of all a new syntheic tent doesn't need weathering.

Its only canvas tents that have to be weathered before they are waterproof.

It may have been coming through the stitching holes, maybe you could cover with some seam sealer? This may stop the drip.

but a new tent should NOT leak.

if it was only a very small amount in heavy rain and you are happy to use the seam sealant, fine. Otherwise, you can take it back.

Also assuming that you are certain that its not condensation too?

Thanks for that - wasn't too sure about the weathering aspect. I'd seen it mentioned a few times on here but didn't realise it only applied to canvas.

It's definitely not condensation. It's only 1 drip every 3 or 4 minutes in heavy rain so I'm not overly concerned but I'll have a look into sealing the seams a bit better.

We have the same tent, and it too leaks around the window areas. We plan to seal all the seams. Im sure you can buy waterproofing stuff for the tent as a whole.I hope so anyway because ours seems to build up condensation and soaks the fabric letting water come through.

I think our tent was a slight second, although no one has said, we originally saw it in 1 shop for 200 and found another shop sellin it for 160. Some things seem to be missing. I.e there is 1 holder on the right hand side, that we think is for when you roll the roofwindow cover back, ou can clip the hook to the side, but there aint 1 on the right.

If ya get what i mean

The holders you're referring to might be for an electric cable if you have EHU. There should be a small zip at ground level below the left hand window (looking from the bedrooms).

I've had a surf around and there are loads of seam sealer products out there.

Hi

I would use a small amount of seam sealant, this will sort it out.

I would say no family tent can be sold as 100% waterproof. Yes, it should keep most of the weather out but the kind of rain some of us have camped through this season is just to much for any family tent to handle. This is why seam sealant is sold.

Now i know some may cry " fit for purpose" etc but if what your after is a 100% tent then you need to spend £500 on a two man top end backpacking tent.

Yes im a retailer and you might say im bound to say what i have but surley we all need to be fair with each other.

I have the EVO 300 and 400..Both tents leaked around the windows in very heavy rain, seam sealed all windows which has appeared to sort out the problem...4oo stood up really well in gale force winds..i love these tents.
