Just had my bear lake up in garden for the night. its the 1st time and has had some leaking around door / windows. just wondering if this is normal the 1st time it gets wet. Was told to weather it before 1st camping trip, so hope this is normal?

Off on sunday for 1st week away, just hope weather gets better!

cant wait.

mark.

I think there are some threads on here about the bear lake and other poly otton tents that say they do leak the first time, with some merchants telling you to weather them at home first (drench them) and then the cotton swells to stop any leaks x

Hi markylad.
No it should not leak especially around the windows this can only be due to a defect in the sowing, when a cotton tent or part cotton tent, such as a poly-cotton tent the fibers get wet and swell to stop leaks. and if it leaks now it will probably leak when you go away. The thread used to sow tents is not Cotton so dose not swell so the holes from the stitching that have stretched when you put your tent up should close as soon as the material gets wet in cotton or poly cotton tents.
Regards
Rex.

Just looked at all the threads on here about polycoton tents leaking.

think i risk it for the week and see what happens. If it leaks again will sadly return it to shop.

looks great set up in the garden.

Thanks for advice.

Mark.
