We are looking for a new tent (currently have Coleman Weathermaster Plus) does a great job, but when there are 4 adults (hubby and son over 6' ) there is little or no room left in the living area.  Over the past couple of years I've been feeling "entombed" in the bedroom and would like more head/side room.

We've been looking at the above options, but find it hard to get true dimensions (or picture them at least).  Can anyone confirm if it's possible to stand upright in the bedroom of the Chatsworth?

Came across a review on the Ridgipod and I feel inclined to opt for this, but having lived with the SIG of the Coleman wonder how draught proof this will be.

Would also prefer if possible a Poly/Cotton option (know this is available in Chatsworth) but what about the Ridgipod?

We've used a Khyam Garden shelter for shows over the past few years and love the way it takes minutes to erect and pull down, hence the decision to go for a Khyam tent.

Hope someone can help, we do intend to go and look this week, but as the next show is Bank Holiday weekend it doesn't leave much time to make the choice and obtain the equipment.  Typical of us last minute

We will also be adding the annexe on the Chatsworth or Petworth, and at least one or two pods on the Ridgipod, all this has to go into the boot area of a hatch back, are we living on another planet expecting this?

Thanks

Good luck.  We can't find anyone who has any Khyam on display to have a look round - most palces even said they'd sold out over this last weekend.  Where are you going to see them?

I have an older version of the Chatsworth and would say that if you want to stand upright in the sleeping area you would need to opt for the Petworth. However while this would give you loads of headroom (especially in the living area) it would be a tight squeeze for 4 adults in the sleeping area. My suggestion would be for one or more adults to sleep in the living area and store their bed(s) in the sleeping area during the day.

Well we nipped across to Aspinalls in Moreton yesterday, rather disappointed when we got there as had been told they had a couple of the Khyam on display, well a couple had been but I think the wind and rain had had a good play in that area.  Not a good advert for some of the tents that's for sure, a couple totally collapsed and broken.

But to cut a long story short we came away with a new Ridgipod Classic.  Erected in the back garden last night and the heavens opened, still we can now be sure it doesn't leak .  So far the only things we can find missing are the Instruction Manual and Video/DVD, and we're a little unsure of a one or two things, Aspinalls don't have spares and I cannot find a contact number for Khyam.

Would anyone be willing to scan their copy of the Manual and email it, or anyone know how to contact Khyam?

Also want to know if the porch inner is still available?

Thanks for the input and hopefully someone out there can help.

Sharon

How do you find Aspinals?

We are thinking of buying from them (they say it's not a second) but have read things in different places that have put us off a little.

Anyone bought a 'seconds' tent of them - what's it like?

The tent was sold as a Second, but we examined it on site (not erected or anything).  Whilst the box had been opened, the tent bag and tent itself had not, all the original ties were in place and the ground sheets and pods were sealed, none of the pegs had been used, so really this was a New tent.  They said "We sell as seconds because they're last years (or older) models." but for the price we paid £309 for a Ridgipod base, 3 pods (although we're not sure if we need that many) and groundsheets we're certainly not complaining.  The tent has been up in the garden for the last couple of nights and received a "Baptism of Fire, well very heavy rain really", there are no leaks, tears or immediate problems.  One thing to note, as these are sold as seconds they do not come with a 12 month guarantee only 6 months, as they state on their website.  Also if you're going along to the premises the shop prices are slightly higher than their web prices, not much but if you've seen one price online you don't expect to pay more if you've travelled across there.

I will say the premises could do with a spruce up, but it is well stocked, and they stated they were experiencing problems with their web server and couldn't check what they were showing on line, mmmmm (Hubby always says I'm to suspicious ) we've had worse experiences when buying a car than we did buying this tent.  Whilst there people were coming in, it would appear to be a busy outlet.  Would we buy from then again?  Well hopefully we won't need to, but we'd certainly consider what they may offer if that situation arose.

Hope this helps

Sharon

Called at Yeomans tent show at Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire yesterday (on the A34 by the Monkey Park entrance).

They had a lot of Coleman & Outwell tents up, a few Peakland tents, and a couple of Vango tents.

The only Kyham one they had up was the Tourer 400... which is discontinued anyway!!???
Still, it'll give you any idea of how Kyam's pole-system works.

Thanks for the offer Rowen46, but Khyam came up trumps and send a copy of the Instruction booklet and DVD (admittedly for 2008 season but still worth while).

We used the tent over the BH weekend at Oulton Park Race Circuit, very very cramped in the camping area, think H&S would have been having multi kittens if they'd seen the situation. Thoughts on the Khyam Ridgipod Classic: does everything it says on the tin, we ended up having to use 2 of the bedroom pods, but this allowed for a t-shape setup.  We're glad the tent had a good soaking over a couple of nights before using for the first time as the heavens opened again on the Saturday night, happy to report no leaks again.  The bedpods are an excellent height and prevented that tomb like feeling, plus with the hanging divider removed there was more than ample room for a double airbed, with plenty of air space around it which definately helped.

We now need to source a bedroom inner for the porch as this may make it easier if just the 2 of use are away.

At this moment in time I'd give the tent a huge

Anyone want to buy a Coleman Weathermaster plus?
