Does anyone have one of these kind of tents and just not hang the bedrooms at all?  is that possible?

i meant the ones in the style of the montana with a fully sewn in groundsheet - so no frogs!  We just can't seem to find the right arrangement for us.  We have an older style Hartford L that is going to have to go.

I wouldn't just muddle through, there are so many good tents out there you should be able to find one that is just right. How many of you are there? how many bedrooms do you need -( its good to have an extra one for storage if you can)  do you want a SIG or not? decide on the these points and then just look for tents that fit these requirements. Once you've picked the tent get a decent canopy that way you can cook under it when the weather is bad.

We've just brought a Rotal Pescara 8, the 2008 model comes with a canopy already and a back annex that you can add on or not so it seems very flexible, which to us is important. We looked at serveral different set ups, the reviews on here were very helpfull.

We have an old style Hartford L, which is pitch inner first and i understand it is much smaller than the current model.  When the boys were little we slept in the middle living room section, junk in one pod and babies in the other pod.  Then they grew & wanted to be with us, so we all slept in the middle. Now we all sleep on campbeds having given up on airbeds, so theres not room for us all in the middle!  Last weekend we tried us in one pod, them in the other as it's supposed to be, with the table & chairs in the middle. But, because the campbeds are higher from the ground two adult campbeds in one pod meant you had the sloping side of the pod touching your face, so we tried one adult with one child in each pod, which was fine, but the boys seem to grow by the second & by next year they'll be 6 and nearly 8 & even bigger! And even tho we could all sit round the table. no-one could get past anyone, we all had to get out to move seats!

Also we have a mouse nibble in one of the bedroom windows & a hole in the living area groundseet, and having been rained on constantly every trip this year, I'd love a canopy to cook under.

Oops! Have just spotted the Quechua Seconds System!  maybe I can have everything!!

I hate to shamelessly plug an item I'm selling on Ebay, however the tent I've listed sounds perfect for you. It's a 3 bedroom tunnel tent (good height in bedrooms) the back bedrooms can be opened up into one big room big enough for 4 campbeds.

The side bedroom is what we use for storage, wee bucket and other bits and pieces.

The living area is big enough for a table and chairs, along with all of the food/fridge/shelving for kitchen. We put the cooker outside under the canopy and I've added sides to the canopy for cooking in the rain...

(Hmm...now doubting whether to sell!!)

Pretty versatile set up all round....

Search Outwell Indiana 8 although the Vermont sounds like it could also suit if you wanted a sig.

We had a problem with the cooking when wet in our Mogul XL. It was plenty big enough in the dry, but cramped if the cooker had to come in. Weve just got a Minnesota 4 which offers a good size canopy or full porch extension. That said, its big enough to take a cooker inside on its own.

Anyone want a cheap - AND rain tested Mogul XL??
