Hi I am new to the forum. I have just bought an Outwell Troutlake tent and am very pleased. I am thinking of getting the front extension to go with it. Has any one purchased this extension, if so what do you think of it and how does it fit to the main tent. Thanks for any contribution. Thanks Maggie

Haven't been on the site for a while so have just seen your message, think I can help. I have trout lake tent, extension, footprint and carpet. The extension is fantastic and fits like a glove with no windy gaps. The part that attaches to the tent is elasticated and just slips over the front hoop of the tent and there are some strong velcro straps which go around the same hoop. I also have a bearlake6 but do prefer the trout, you can cook and watch the world go by from the extension. Also bearing in mind the unpredictable nature of our whether, if its boiling hot then maybe you wont need it but its so lightweight you can take it just in case. Another thing after an exhausting drive to a campsite you can just put up the tent, sort out the bedrooms and something to eat and go to bed then put the extension up next morning. If you site your tent correctly you will be entirley sheltered from the wind and rain. It also means you can have more space inside the tent. I have also manged to put all of it up myself with the aid of my 7 year old. Afters a very windy time camping others were moaning about the noise of the rustling flysheets which just doesn't happen with the polycotton. One more piece of advise-having bought just about everything imaginable for camping I have found that its the smaller items like very low tables, compact collaspeable storage and step that have been very useful. Any way have gone on abit but am a big fan of the trout so yes I without a doubt reccomend the extension. 10 out 10
Hi Jill, thank you so much for your reply.I will now order the extention as I am hopeing to get a couple more outings before the winter. Have you ever bought a fire or any form of heating as it does get a bit nippy this time of year. Thanks Maggie
Hi Maggie
I too have the front extension and i agree completely with everything Jill has said. Check my gallery for a couple of piccies of it.
The low tables are great too .. we put our small lights and hand warmers inside them.
Go for the extension you won't regret it.

Yep, I have a black cat heater by Coleman was £29.99 from Wildday which was a good price and cheaper than the camping gaz version the blue cat. Very good, small enough to take away because there is so much stuff and it does make the tent warm and cosy. It gives heat without a flame but light it outside the tent as I have found the piezo ignition tempremental but without EHU there not alot else out there. I used it this easter when we had snow, had it on all evening and did get thru some cans of gas but it was definately worth it. Its one of the essential pieces of equipment that I always take.
