Hi there,

My family and I are new to camping, we've been a couple of times in a cheap tent and loved the experience and now we wish to upgrade to a much better quality tent that is built to last.  There are four of us, DH myself and 2 kids aged 8 and 6 and we want to be able to camp for up to a week or so at a time in the UK.  I've been looking at the reviews of the Outwell Montana 6 and love the look of it etc. but I'm worried that it may be a bit bulky and tricky to erect.

We want something that is roomy, built to last, totally water proof, simple for two people to erect and something that will fit into the back of a family saloon car without a trailer or top box.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

many thanks

Hi Loumil, welcome to UKCS now your in you'll never get out, you are doomed to a lifetime of buying camping "essentials"

The Monty 6 is a good choice, yes it's a bit bulky but no, it's not to hard to erect, there is a video here of one being erected, not the method i would use but it does show it's possible to erect it single handed

If you browse youtube you will find one being put back in the bag, that will give you an idea of the size of it when packed

You might also want to consider the Wynnster Carina 8.  It has 3 bedrooms, good living area, porch and canopy.  Easy to erect and unlike some SIG tents the ventilation has been well thought out.

We've had our Monty 6 for a couple of years now and it's an excellent tent. Once you've packed it away a couple of times it's quite easy to get it back in the bag. The use of a footprint groundsheet helps with a clean roll-up.

We now erect the tent by raising the roof stays one at a time starting at the rear . This saves us having to raise all the frame sections together as they are quite heavy in one lift. We take the tent down in the reverse order and never have a problem.

Regards

Steve & Sheila
