Hi everyone. Can anyone help me with a little damp issue? We currently own a Nevada M which we love and have used for 3 night trips. As we are a growing family of four we may consider a slightly bigger tent for longer trips - already salivating over years holiday plans! Would a polycotton tent like the outwell ones give us less condensation issues such as the old damp airbed senario or is this inevitable in both types? If not can anyone recommed a polycotton one for family of four with enough room to eat/store clothes etc.

If anyone has had experience of owning both would be grateful for feedback.

If you want quality buy a polycotton tent.

If you want to save money buy a polyester tent.

Considerations:

Polycotton is much heavier. Also consider how long you intend to use the tent. If you are likely to change your tent frequently the extra expense of a polycotton may be unjustifiable over say a 5 year period, but at the end of the day its all about what you consider the best way to spend your money.

The poly-cotton " breathes " so less condensation is cooler in the sun ( should it ever appear again ) and warmer at night.  Tent is now over ten years old and still going strong bearing in mind it goes out every weekend possible and main holidays.  Polyester life span approx 15 weeks or 5 years average camping.  Not forgetting the  " noise " Polyester is a noisy material.

So Poly-cotton all the time Polyester annexe added for main holidays when we need the room.  Now if only they made a poly-cotton annexe. 

Go and feel the difference at your nearest tent display,   The cost is the major factor if you find a tent that will be used for years to come then the poly-cotton will pay for its self, but for short term use Polyester is the disposable one.

We bought a second hand poly/cotton mid trip this summer as hubby couldnt stand the heat inside the poly.

Now he refuses to camp in poly every again (and we have several poly tents including a new one we only used once !)

As for weight, ours is only 21kg.. half the weight of the weathermaster and not alot smaller (but the weathermonster does have steel poles).

There is way less condensation in polycotton too.
