Hi all,

Just found this site after spotting a Royal Pescara 8 at the weekend and being very tempted by it!

Any opinions on it?  I am concerned that it might be too big?  There are 4 of us, including two kids of 1 and 4 and I just think we need some space to spread out!

I heard that you may experience difficulty getting a pitch for it due to the size, is this really likely to happen?

My wife and I have camped once before, I woke up in a puddle and spend the next 10 days in bed with 'flu!  That was 10 years ago, have things moved on?  Please tell me they have . . . .

Thanks from a posting virgin!

I have just brought this tent purely on the strength of the reviews on here.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/preview.asp?id=219

It is not much bigger than my present tent, a Wynnster mecury 9xp, and I haven't had trouble finding a pitch for that. As long as you tell the camp site the size of the unit they will try to pitch you althouhg some seem to have smaller pitches, we just stay away from those sites. we always have a good look round and earmark 'bigger' pitches on sites that we hope to return to that way when we re-book we can try to get the specific pitch we want knowing we will have plenty of space.

There is a good link on here that lists camp site that allow bigger units.

My Royal arrives tommorrow and we are camping in her at the weekend so I will try to put a review on here. I'm looking forward to having a ZIG groundsheet so the dog can't escape and the rain wont get in ( hopefully)

bought the Royal Bordeaux 6 a couple of weeks ago but have not had a chance to use it yet. i looked at the Pescara but decided it was a bit too big. the Bordeaux 6 has loads of living space and i have the same size family as you, two adults, two kids, so only need two bedrooms and use the other as storage. i too was concerned about some sites not accepting larger tents so went for the slightly smaller option...

We bought the Pescara this year and have used it twice.  Its brilliant.  We are a camping family of 3 sometimes 4 and the dog and we love having lots of space.  We sat outside at the weekend under the canopy in the rain and had a lovely time.

Would recommend and havent had any problem finding a pitch so far, the place we stayed at for our main holiday the majority of tents seemed as big as ours.

cax890 - how do you pitch the canopy - I've just taken delivery of our Pescara and whislt we have instructions for the main tent and the rear annexe there is no mention of the zip on canopy- or is it just obvious when you get it up?
