Rain isn't the killer of display tents, sunlight is. Sunlight degrades the fabric and it becomes tissue thin. Considering the summer we've just had display tents should be in splendid condition.

When we were getting our new Vermont L a couple of weeks ago at Winfields we spoke to one of the sales staff who said that most of their display tents are out from March up to end September or later. That, he said, was the same as 6 plus years hard work for the tents due to a number of factors including being out in all weathers from snow to high wind to rain to sun, the number of people going through them causing wear on the SIG, the fact the doors were open in all weathers, the fact that they are often not guyed out fully due to space constraints, guys are often tripped over causing stress on the tents fabric.

The discount for me to buy ex display would have to be so much that the retailer would be just about giving it away, even then I would never trust it fully unless I knew its history (ie having only been on display for a very limited time)

Cheers

Its buyers beware obviously with ex display tents. However if you are lucky and the tent of your dreams has still not been sold on the last afternoon of the show eg the outdoor Yeomans show, I know that there are bargains to be had. At the end of the Yeomans show at Carver back in April we were talking to a bloke who had just managed to but the Bear lake 4 for an extra £100 off the ex display price!

Mind you, at the show at Darley Dale in May they were not selling off their tents at the end as they were taking them to another show to pitch!

Or, you could always buy a brand new one. Go outdoors currently have them for £199!

Montana 6

there £329 there now. When they had them on offer at £199 they sold out,so this must be  anew lot in.

As for  display tents, i wouldn't buy one i went to local tent display and put my hand through  a vango,

We have been to two tent displays this year just to browse but bought a carpet, however all the tents we saw looked liked they needed putting in the bin they had rips faded raining in would not have one if they offered to give it to me.
