Hi, I'm new to the forum and have just bought my 2nd tent - An outwell Vermont M.

Dont ask me why, but as its peeing down we decided to have a look at our new tent in the living room. Now we can't get the flaming thing small enough to go back in its bag. We've watched the video on the outwell site.. but its of no use and opened the doors to let the air out.. but it just doesn't fit. The OH is getting fustrated and I'm wishing we'd got a smaller tent! Any tips anyone????

thanks

If you've opened all the doors you need to start at the furthest point from the main doorway and as you fold (as per the instructions) try and get as much air out as possible. All the time heading towards the doorway. You may have to do this a few times but if you always work towards the main door the air has somewhere to escape to. I find sitting on the rolled up tent helps until eventually it surrenders. Failing that you can always go out and buy an oversized equipment bag which will guarantee to fit it back in without too much effort. Do you know, I swear either the bag shrinks or the tent grows every time I try to get mine back in too but keep going, you'll get there and when you do you can do a victory run round the bag! (Just like me, but don't tell anyone lol!) Good luck,Jules.

If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules

We took advice from our camp shop. Keep all doors closed. Fold the tent to a square shape. Fold in half or thirds, depending on the length of the bag you have to put it into, Then role as tight as you can, slow but firm, as then the air should slowly escape without damaging the tent material. When tightly roled up, using some length of material, tie it round the tent, as then this should help to keep it wrapped, when putting in the bag. If there's still air in it, put gentle pressure on the roll, and parcially re-role if necessary. This should then slip into the bag with not much effort. This worked for us, and we have a wolf lake 7 to fold up and put away!

Simple! But then we would say that cos our tents away at the moment!! ha ha. Sit down and have a cuppa, before you start! Take a deep breath...and let the fun begin....

Ideally, it would have been much better if you was to do it outside in the lovely sunshine and open space, but..weather like ours......

We have never managed to get all our tent stuff back in the bag and have always left the poles/pegs separate.

I have no idea why manufacturers don't make the bag slightly larger.

Roll it up as tight as possible, then unroll it, do not unfold as well, and roll it up again as tight as possible.  The second rolling usually does the trick and you should be able to get it in the bag.

We fold in half and then get our 4 year old to roll up and down a few times. He has a great time and we have an air free tent!
