Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
THANKS MARIGOLD, HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BUT STILL UNSURE. THERE ARE 2 MAIN DIFFERENCES THAT I CAN SEE AND THAT IS THAT THE CARINA 8 HAS A BATHTUB GROUNSHEET IN THE LIVING AREA THAT SEPARATES IT FROM THE PORCH THUS MAKING THE OVERALL LIVING AREA SMALLER. THE VANGO SEEMS TO HAVE A LARGER LIVING AREA AS NO SUCH DIVIDER. THE REVIEW STATES THE VANGO IS NOT TOO STABLE IN WINDY CONDITIONS AND I WOULD WELCOME ANY FEEDBACK FROM OWNERS OF EITHER TENT.
Trial and error in my case!! Always buy the best that you can afford though. Cheap tents are exactly that and won't last too long or leak! I always go for more room than i need just in case.
The Carina 8 has a sewn in groundsheet in the living area. The porch area has a non SIG groundsheet. We had a look in a Kura at the same time as the Carina and found the Kura to be considerably hotter. The Carina has very well thought out ventilation, it should also be easier to fit on a pitch. The porch area on the Carina has a large door to the front, small door to the side and the door that goes into the living area can be left as half mesh which is great for ventilation.
We have the Carina 8 and it is a lovely tent, unfortunately as OH doesn't want to go for any long camping trips we are having to sell it. It is a real shame because I would highly recommend it to anyone.
How about the outwell Hartford or Montana ranges. Plenty of living space, head height, stand up well to the weather and have sig. 2008 models pitch all in one (or fly first).
Thanks everyone for all your kind comments and help. Finally decided to purchase a Hartford XL with extension having seen the actual tent erected. Will be trying out this weekend so lets hope the sun is shining!
