On the ring and pin system you have the strap that holds the ring to the tent, you have the ring itself and you have the pin but there's a loop of webbing - whats it for?
While I'm here, do you peg through the ring? I usually do when its windy or not looking too good otherwise I don't bother

It is always a good idea to peg your pole feet down, either through the metal ring or via the loop of webbing. It helps when ensuring that everything is pulled out as taut as possible. I think it also helps with stability in high winds if your pole fett can't shuffle out of place.
Thanks, when I peg the diablo down I always go through the ring and i'm sure there isn't one of these loops on every one, didn't take much notice with the Monty if they were on all rings or not

I use these loops to pull the tensioning straps tight...put a peg crosswise through it and you get a really good grip on the tensioner, especially in the rain. I'm very old fashioned though...I always peg through the ring, whether there's a pegging strap or not.
