We have just put up our new vermont L, totally thrilled with the tent and it has all pitched so easily except for one part that has us totally stumped, i am hoping another vermont owner can answer this one for me!....

In the porch area, there is a skirt that runs around the bottom edge, on the inside of this there are single ties along it, but we cant see where these would attach, or what they are for.  They do not seem to be anything to do with the bath tub ground sheet as this has its own seperate attachment points and that all attaches fine.  If there was a loop at the end of the tie i would think it was another pegging point, but it is literally one single tie and there are several of these running around the inside.

Hope someone may be able to shed some light on this, no doubt i am going to feel very stupid when i find out what it is for

thanks

We noticed those on our Vermont XL and we couldn`t work out what they were for either, so we just ignored them.

Will the sides roll up? Are there any ties at the top?  Was just thining that maybe the sides roll up and can be tied at the top?  Just a thought and probably completley wrong!

We wondered if they were to tie the front up if you had it fully opened, but we never really got the weather this year to try that particular theory out

I had a sunvalley 6 2005 model and there were those same ties all around the skirt (mud flaps) of the porch on the inside of the tent. But on the outside of the tent in the same place were little loops. I would occasionally roll the skirt up and hold it in place by wrapping the tie around the rolled up skirt and securing it by threading it through the loop. It was useful on particulartly wet days when I didn't want the skirt to get so sodden I would never get it dry, but then again, it was hard to keep the ties tied tight when there was no toggel on the end to tighten it up and keep it tied tight. I presume that that is what your ties are for. Check and see if the corresponding loops on the outside exist. If not, then sorry, I haven't got a clue.

I am looking in the 2008 Outwell book and can't see anything about them but there is a picture of it with the front completley up on porch poles and I can see dangling bits. It does look like it's ties for if you roll the front up instead of up and peggin out. (does that make sense)

The only other thing I can think of is cable tidies.

Or to tie the skirt bits up for ventilation.

I think there are loops on the outside of the Vermont at the top. If I am right then they could be what you tie the ties to, if you want to open the front right up without pegging it out and using it as sunshade.

thanks for all your replys, i think that they maybe they are to lift up the skirt, as mentioned, as there are loops on the other side of the skirt. It seems to be the only purpose for them really. Bit dissapointed now as i was hoping it would be a bit more exciting than that lol

thanks again
