I'm intrigued did They reply to your e-mail? What was the end result?

You are assuming that when they dispatched the tent they were still in a position to supply a 2007 model.  You do not know this.  They probably would rather supply a 2008 model than lose the deal altogether.  Their stock situation would soon be reconciled if there was a problem....i.e. they would have to sell the 2007 model.

I would grateful accept what has come your way...it may also have been an internal decision on their part in any case - contacting them may have only caused further problems.

Too much change/cash is a separate issue - so relax and enjoy it..

Did you order it online?  If so, you would have expected a reply to your email if they had made a mistake and wanted it back.

I suspect they sent the tent rather than contacting you to say your chosen tent was out of stock and therefore risk you buying that tent elsewhere. You've given them your business and the opportunity to inform you of what they did, I think you can relax now. 

Being a honest person, I imagine you do kind deeds yourself along the way, this is one in return for you.
