OMG Keely another tent - but I have to say if I was to get another tent (and I can't because I'd be issued with divorce papers) then it would be a Bear or Wolf Lake as I don't think that you can really fairly compare them with Cabanons or Polyester tents and they look so fantastic too - Im so jealous!

Now you MUST have more than me I'm relieved to say.

Well one tent leads to another because you always want more! Did I hear something about a tent roll call? Here goes!

1. 5 person dome tent from Asda - our first tent. Was OK for a starter tent, very small porch area and it didn't have a groundsheet and it was inner pitch first which we decided we didn't want.

2. Gelert Nimbus 4 person - bigger living area, but it wasn't a SIG and you did develop a stoop... We decided we wanted to be able to stand up in our next tent and we wanted SIG.

3. Coleman Magellan 9- our first family tent shared between me, OH and my parents. It was great, you could stand up and there was lots of space for both sleeping and one pod for storage, it had SIG, EHU inlet, and a skylight which I always wanted! But it was returned due to faulty pitching straps.

4. Vango Orchy 400 - we can stand up!!! Great living space, skylight, SIG! It's perfect for just the two of us... First we got the large canopy, then decided it was too big, so at Christmas we got the standard with vouchers we'd got for Go Outdoors and it had been reduced in price too!

5. Vango Kura 800 DLX - New family tent. Only pitched it once for a trial run. It's big, light and airy and we still have the extra storage pod! And the large canopy will fit it!

Not bad for only 2 years camping... can't believe we're on our 3rd year now! And we've still got all the tents apart from the Coleman... I just can't part with them! LOL

HI Corkycat

If your all going to be going I would stick with the Monty & try different things whilst pitching, Once we have the main part of our Monty up & secure our youngest is my peg runner (helps wear him out) & the eldest helps the OH start on the inside, you have the advantage of three on the inside! By the time you have the outside sorted you should be ready to pop a beer

If you go for the Nevada, what you need to think of is where’s all your stuff going to go after being used to the space in a Monty then imagine a went Saturday afternoon when your trying to cook & the girls are stuck in… Also it’s another tent to store when your not camping.

Having said this from reading the bulk of this thread I might in a minority on this one!

Cheers

Snocat

Thanks Snowcat,
Your singing from my wife's hymn sheet on the storage issue. She also has concerns over the strength of a smaller tent over the Monty which was brill in a Welsh storm last summer. I think we may do as you suggest and try to get our pitch time down and delegate tasks to our girls.

We've just bought a coleman columbus 4 for similar reasons. Haven't pitched it yet, so I can't comment on pitching times, but as it has fewer poles, I reckon it must  be quicker to pitch!

edit: just seen you have 3 kids, so this one won't be much good!
