Narrowed my tent selection down to a Nevada M or a Montana 6, which one shall i go for ? There are 3 of us, 2 adults and 1 child, like the nevada but i just thought the montana might give us more room ???

We used our Montana for the last three years, it's a brilliant tent! It's stood up to the storms of last year, and gives us plenty of space and headroom.

We've not had a problem with any sites regarding the size of the Monty, which is just over 5m wide with the side porch up.

This year we've invested in a canopy for the long (hot?) Summer evenings we're going to get this year!

if you're thinking you want more space go for one the size of the montana.

I've had a montana in the past, great tent. This sunncamp global is very much like the montana , same size and layout etc ,and is as good quality, but at £250 with sun canopy included is a better bargain. my friends had it last year and I would recommend it to anyone, i assisted with putting it up and it was easy, sturdy in the wind and really warm and cosy.

I've got the Montana and it is fab for space but its really spacious for a family of four you may not need all that space with just 3 of you if you really prefer the Nevada.

My vote is with the Nevada M. We are a family of four and feel it is plenty big enough for us. I have seen the Monty's pitched and they are beasts. I would not consider one because we just don't need that much space.  There is plenty of room for four beds in the nevada in the bedroom area and the living area is more than sufficient for us all to sit round in if it's rainning. I don't want an airhanger just a cozy watertight space with plenty of light! But each to their own!

Hi there

We have got an Nevada M - we bought it last year to use as a weekend / short stay tent.  It's a great tent, very well designed and nice and bright inside.  It's very easy to put up and a lot lighter than the Monty - we found that it is plenty big enough for both of us and the dog.  However, having fibreglass poles as opposed to the Monty's steel, it probably wouldn't stand the gale force winds we experienced last year as well as the Monty would.

As a matter of interest, do you have similar problems with the side porch as some of us have had with the similar Minnesota - that the bent ole that forms the canopy stretches the material/seams/zip around the door?

They are both good tents. If you've seen them both up and like the Nevada, go for it. Its a really nice tent, I have never camped in one but have looked at one up at a tent shop.

The Montana would give you more space - but do you need that? We had a Monty 6 and it is a great tent but it is very heavy and a huge fly to dry off if you bring it home wet. That would all be worth it if you were going to fully use and appreciate the cavernous living space but it was pointlessly big for our use and a huge temptation to take along more and more unneccesary stuff just to fill it up.

Tent choice and use is very personal.

I'm not sure the two are easily directly comparable.

The Montana is bigger (when up and in the car when packed) and will take longer to put up. The Nevada is compact and quicker.

If you're going to be camping for a week go for the Montana. If it's a 2 day weekend jaunt opt for the Nevada.

Yes it is a little tight, but not unduly so - from what Dave can remember, we didn't fully tighten the adjuster.
