Goodness - there are LOADS of good tents out there (and loads of not so good ones too!!).

You will need to eliminate some by formulating a checklist of things you want/don't want. I'd suggest starting with -

• groundsheet sewn in or not
• material - polyester, polycotton, cotton canvas
• standing height?
• one bedroom or more
• size of living area needed
• porch/canopy
• budget (all important!!)
• style - tunnel, dome, frame

Just a few starting points.

Try searching on here (or ask questions) about any of the above if you're not sure. I have cotton canvas and polyester tents - I've been very happy with Cabanon and outwell.

Look on thew Outwell site (also Vango, Khyam, Wynnster) and I'm sure others will be along soon to recommend their favourites.

If you want space for 2 of you I'd go for at least a 4 man tent.

Is there a large camping store near you with tents on display?

Its always a good idea to have a look before you buy (if possible) then there are no nasty surprises such as ... oh wow this is MUCH smaller than it looked on the pictures.

Plus checking out tents is always fun :)

We have the Vango Beta and it is an excellent little tent.  We backpacked around the IOW last year (we split the tent between us) so were moving campsites everyday it is nice and quick to put up, spacious to sleep in and has plenty of room for baggage.  You can also get little low chairs if you want to sit inside.

Ok I am going to throw the spanner in the works and suggest something from here

Great prices and you could get a polycotton tent which would mean almost zero condensation and breathable

Been to the Dutch store many times and have owned hypercamp tents.

Great value for money and great tents :)
