HI beyonce i have a outwell Montana 6 i think this will meet your requirements i believe its one of the best selling tents of in that category but there are a lot of other tents out there to chose from ,it may be a good idea to go to one of the larger camping shops that have displays up so you can have a good look around the tents,       hope this helps , and good luck .

The montana or the sunncamp global sprung to mind , with the one large sleeping area. You wouldn't get 3 double airbeds in though, maybe get away with 3 small kids on a double. or use self inflating mats for everyone .

but also may be on the heavy side for one lady to put up alone.

for 6 people I think an 8 berth tent would be better, after all theres going to be 6 lots of clothes to store as well.

maybe the khyam ontario or kansas or one of the vango 8 berth tunnels or gelert meridian 8 or 10 berth .

The royal toledo is a great design, with the front enclosed porch and a bargain at that price.

the sun valley 6  or  sunvalley  8 is also ideal with the front canopy included

Khyam Ontario 8 with one bedroom pod removed would give a huge living/ storage area and is easy to put up too.

If you want a more "beefy" version of the Ontario then look at the Quebec (metal poles) or the 10 man Quebec DLX..... metal poles on any tent mean heavier and bigger pack size though.

Planned for next year, hopefully!

Summer Solstice wild camp.

Chilled in a Field, July.

Crantock, August. Fouth year with the fantastic Quechua Base Seconds 4.2!
..... and the odd night wild camping in my Argos 1 man tent...

Beyonce, I thought you were a millionaire pop superstar, you don't need to be hanging out in tents in the cold British countryside!

Maybe you could afford to hire the O2 (millenium dome) in London, it's a bit like a tent and you could fit lots of people in. In fact it's probably the best tent in the world - it has bars & restaurants and views of the Thames. Outwell don't make tents like that.

Good luck in your search!

Hi beyonce
What you have to think about is size large multipod tents are been refused on many sites these days, so ideally you should look into a extended dome or tunnel tent. every year around this time you will See plenty of adverts for tents that have only been used once or twice
and i would recommend you spend £300 on a £600 used tent than a lesser quality new tent. but always collect your tent and asked to see it pitched or do not buy it,their will be others
I can not give you personal advice as to lightweight family tents are like to live in, but certain ones seem to stand out, the outwell tunnel tents from 2008 season
and the Kyham QE tents the later are recommended as three season, the only lightweight family tent that is.If you can get hold of these tents you will have no worries.
Good luck
Rex

The vango amazon is a great tunnel tent. Some great deals on them on ebay at the moment and below your budget....bargain.

thank you all very much for spending the time to reply to my post.

Was camping a couple a years ago with 4 young children in a cheap 9berth tent I bought from Index catalogue.  Three separate compartments with front and rear entrance/exit points meant I did not get much sleep! So I have a clear picture of what I need to enjoy at least a week away with my tearaways!!

I will have a closer look at all your recommendations.

To astronaut: Liked your comments, wherever I pitch it will be like my very own Glastonbury. No bar required B.Y.O.B.

cheers everyone

Our tent is great, but discontinued so hard to get hold of. However if you can it sleeps 12. It has 3 bedrooms but you could just use the one that sleeps 6. This would give you a huge living area. Similar tents are the meridian 10 and the Ontario but not as wide.

Hi Beyonce

One thing to take into account is the size of the sleeping areas. Most tent plan views on website etc show sleeping berths based on 50cm per person. A single airbed is about 70cm so a 6 berth tent might be 3mtrs wide but you will only get 4 singles or 2 double airbeds in.

Regards

Gary Cross
