I am looking for a smaller tent that is manageable for myself and my son to have boys weekends away.  I have come across some which are branded Hi gear which look reasonable.  Has anyone come across this make before and, if so, what do you make of them?  They don't seem to feature anywhere in the Tent Reviews section on this site.

Thanks

They are just rebranded Gelert tents made for mainly Go Outdoors to sell.

Check to see if the same tent you like is still available made by gelert, the model name will be different ,and you may get one of last years models cheaper .
Which tent is it ?

The Hi-Gear tents are new this year, hence there is no reviews. As others say, they are last years Gelert designs which are now branded Hi-Gear. They are good tents. Gelert themselves have developed their tents, added new bits and changed some features as every manufacturer does each year, but last year's models were fine.

Looking at possibly the Proton 3 or maybe the Atom 3.  I think I'd prefer a dome style tent as opposed to a tunnel tent as they would be easier to pitch with my 8 year old son.  Although I know that Go Outdoors will be doing a good offer on a Gelert Nimbus 3 during the week starting 23 Mar.  There's just so much choice at the moment.

I think the atom 3 is the gelert tornado £39.99here

and the proton 3 looks like it is the gelert colima .
£59.99 here

Either a dome or tunnel of this size would be easy enough for you to manage on your own I should think.

Thanks.  I went to the Go Outdoors store today and ended up getting the Atom 3.  You are right, it is the same as the Gelert Tornado but a little improved ie; the hysrostatic head on the Atom 3 is up to 2000.  Got it for £45 using the Go discount card and then another 10% off for being in the Armed Forces.  Really quite pleased, however the real test is yet to come once we get a weekend of not so wet and windy weather.  Review to follow.  Thanks again.

Hi, yes we've got a 2008 Gelert Zenth 6 from GoOutdoors for WOW £65 - what a price.  They should be £399 I have seen them at High Bridge Caravans for £250 so I got it well cheap.   They are doing the same tent but in HiGear name but costs a lot more, so if you can get a 2008 tent from GoOutdoors get one as they are selling them off.  Also if you want a 3 way Fridge get a Waeco from GoOutdoors, the silver one is better as it cools to 30 degs below outside temp, whereas the blue one only cools to 20 degs below outside temp, they are £128 should be £170
