Hi, I am after advice on buying a new tent.  I think I have narrowed it down to either the Outwell Hartford XL (2008 model as have limited budget!) or the Vango Diablo 900.  I have two young girls, 5 and 2 and a dog and want a tent big enough so there is plenty of room on rainy days and when the girls are in bed for us to chill out without feeling cramped.  I have read so many reviews an both tents and hundreds more and from what I can see the main difference is that Diablo you pitch inner first and Hartford outer first. Other than the obvious benefit of pitching in the rain and keeping the inner dry is one better or easier than the other? There seems to be little difference in the sizes of these tents but is there any diference in quality?

I would be interested in any comments on these models or suitably priced and size alternatives. I am looking to buy in next 2 weeks so will have to make a decision sometime soon!!!

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

It is worth doing a search for threads on both of these models. These are both tents that are usually deemed to be over sized for modern pitches so you do need to think about what sites you intend to use and whether you will be OK for those sites.

Personally I'd go for something that is a more regular shape so is less of a problem to pitch and that gets your girls a bit closer to you, something like an Outwell Montana or the Sunncamp Global that was recommended for someone else earlier this week.

Thanks for advice, I have read a bit about the problem with pitch sizes and huge tents.  Having looked at both your suggestions they are certainly worth looking into further.  After all, I would rather not have to pay more to pitch a tent of that size when the Sunncamp and Montana would give us all the space we would need anyway!

Thanks!
