Hello, I have just ordered a Vango Sumatra after finding no negative reports following my research. Typical of my luck having made the order I have found the MamaBear saga with the snapped poles. Was MamaBear unlucky or have other Sumatra owners had similar experience. I have noted the poles on Vango's website are different to the one's used for the Orchy. So have Vango updated this issue as MamaBear states the Poles she had was the same as the Orchy.
Any replies welcome as the tent may be going straight back if it's a common fault.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
last year i was looking at the tent in caseys camping in a brochure asking why they had not put it up and she said it is because the weight of the fabric on those poles is just asking for trouble she did however say that vango had known so maybe it has been rectified this year it was last season.I have not seen the tent up but i have watched 2 or 3 orchys collapse in strong winds last year in keswick,so im not surprised mamabear had probs.
Our friends bought a Sumatra last year and they love it, they are away at the moment but they do come on here so will ask them to put a review on this weekend when we see them.
Do any of you Sumatra owners have any updates on your tents, please? We're very nearly ready to buy and having talked ourselves out of a BL6 (we're only going to use the tent a few short times each year so an £800 purchase just isn't appropriate), we're now down to choosing between the Vango Sumatra 600 or the Carrera 600.
Neither seem to be very common so I'm hoping some of you kind people might have some advice!
Many thanks,

Thanks, numbersix, but that really wasn't what I wanted to hear!! I've found a way to get the Sumatra, footprint and carpet and it'll only end up costing a little under £360 so I was keen to go for it.
Can anyone contradict this? Maybe it was an older model that doesn't have the alloy poles? Help?!!

Good point as I believe it was there last year . I also take the point that if you buy it and it is not fit for purpose then you should be refunded . I have a vested interest in this as I am looking to snag a bargain polycotton at the end of the season for continental touring , and the Sumatra featured on my short list .
Hello, I have now posted a review on the Sumatra on this site. There is difinitely an issue with the Pro Shield poles that vango will not admit to. If you are buying a tent with the updated alloy poles, 2009 tent, I cannot see there being to many issues. I have used the tent with the old poles which i have reviewed as above.
