Hello we've got a khyam ontario 6 tent which stood upto some pretty horrendous weather in cornwall last year (gales and rain) and it performed more than manfully. unfortunateley one of the fibreglass poles is broken. I've read that khyam have got a rigid pole tent that looks exactly like the ontario 6, does anyone know if the rigid poles will fit my tent. and if so where can i get them and about how much do they cost, because generally this tent is brill and we really are hoping to make the most of it this year.

Hi davinci,
I doubt if the steel poles would fit , as the pole sleeves would be shaped differently.
The cost of a full replacement set , even if you could get hold of them would probably not be cost effective anyway, likely to be almost as much as a new tent.
I don't know if you are aware you can easily and cheaply relace the broken section of your fibreglass pole though ?
(some people don't know, so apologies if i am stating the obvious here)
It wouldn't have to be a khyam branded pole you 'd have to have , as long as it was the same diameter as the broken one, and you can cut the length to fit .
Check the pole diameters. On my Ontario the lengths of the poles vary but they are all 12.7mm (13mm)diameter, but the Ontario 6 *may* have slimmer poles at the ends of the tent.
I bought some Vango branded poles, £8.50 for a pack of 5, with shockcord and threader. Even comes with instructions about cutting them down etc.
You just cut them to length as said by beefysmum.
So basically, make sure you buy the correct diameter and make sure they are either as long or longer than the length needed so you can cut them down with a junior hacksaw then smooth the cut with some fine sandpaper/ emery-paper.
Finding Khyam Branded ones may be a bit of a task unfortunately, but the Vango ones look to be just as good a quality.
EDIT: Out of idle curiosity, where about on the tent did the pole snap? One of the outer "loops" and was it one of the side poles as opposed to one on the roof area?
