We are a family of 5 - the eldest is pretty much adult size and the others catching up.  Bought cheap tent last year to try and that got damaged in the winds last summer but we're not put off and want to upgrade.  having been to teh camping shop today we feel a bit bowled over by choice!  We looked at Outwell Hartford Xl and XXL which is huge but nice - Outwell seemed to come recommended by friends.  Also a Kyam Quebeck 8 which has a smaller footprint but is pricey.  And then we saw the Sunncamp Haven which also sleeps 8.

Anyone got any suggestions or experience of these tents?  Or recommendations?

thanks

Those makes are all decent and should not let you down

The thing is, a tent that is perfect for one family is a nightmare for another

My suggestion is take a good and long look around the camping showroom and go with what really feels right for you.

Take 5 things into consideration

Firstly, is the sleeping space adequate

Secondly, is the living accomodation big enough if the weather is appauling

Thirdly, where are you going to cook? You may need a utility tent or tarp for cooking

Fourthly (is that a word? lol) Is the tent pack size ok to fit in your car etc

Lastly, is it in your budget

Good luck and hope you have your new tent soon

Angie

Dont forget to check if your tent will fit on a standard pitch, some of the newer tents are just a little too big

Make a list of what you want from your tent and then pick up a catalogue with all the tents on display and make notes on that page of what it has, does etc.

Some tents are fly sheet 1st, do you want cotton, canvas or polyester

and most importantly will it fit on a pitch at your favourite campsite.

We looked into buying a tent 2 years ago and narrowed the choice down about 5 different occasions but then something would put us off of it, i don't think i've seen the tent that would suit me exactly and now we have a caravan lol

We bought the outwell oregon 5 which is too small for you (we are only 2 plus toddler) but just wanted to say we really are very pleased with our choice of the Outwell brand. I like how light and airy it feels inside compared to others though this probably has its disadvantages early in the morning when you dont want it to be light, but having a toddler we are up early anyway. There are cheaper options than Outwell, and we have seen a few since where we could have had more space for our money but quality didnt feel as nice.

There are cheaper options out there though which I am sure are good too. Hi Gear and Suncamp seem cheaper? But I am a total novice so hoping to be helpful but less experienced than most on here. Good luck. The buying is great fun! I now window shop for tents!
