Thanks for the replies. I shall get some cleaner and re-proofer to take care of it. With regard to the two 3' poles, one is brass coloured and the same diameter all the way along (similar to a wardrobe clothers rail). This slides into the grey pole where it can be screwed into place to adjust the total length. The end of the grey pole, that this doesn't slide into, has a narower section about 2 inches long as though it should fit into a 'holer' on the frame but I cannot see a spare one.
I can't see where they would fit on the kitcken. For the kitchen, I set up two poles at the sides with a spike on top to go through the canvas. An additional bar that has flat ends with holes appears to go over the top of these two and then this is held away from the tent by a short pole that clips over this at one end and the frame at the other.
Maybe when we go away in it the function will become clear when we spot somehting that doesn't appear to be working as well as it could!
