Bought a Vango Colarado, got very excited, camping here we come! 4 hours later it was nearly in the river. Basically it takes 3 people to put it up and even then it's almost 2 hours of a job by the time the pegs are in.

We need a quick errect tent for weekends and maybe a week here and there. We are two adults and a 6 and 4 yr old. Ideally children would have separate pods to adults and there would be room to squeeze in the front for a glass of wine on a rainy evening when they are in bed. We have only a trangier and travel light. Any suggestions please. We are willing to pay up to £500 if its fast to errect and will last.

We have the Outwell Montana 6 we have it up with footprint & carpet in all pegged out in around 30minutes.  2 large bedroom pods to the rear & large living area so plenty of space to relax without disturbing children.  Its a fantastic tent but I don't know if pack size may be too large for you.  Tent is in a large holdall & separate bag for poles.

Vango Orchy is supposed to be pretty easy to erect my friend has this tent and I was impressed with the space, size & flexibility of it - like a tardis!

We have the Outwell Oregon 5. We chose this one as it was the simplest of the family tents. I think its a tiny but bigger than the Orchy with room to walk around in both the bedrooms and living space (unlike the Orchy) but its just a tunnel tent and so easy to erect. Its a bit smaller than the Montana 6 but goes in just one holdall so very easy to fit in your car. It has 2 bedrooms across the back like the Orchy, one sleeps 2, one 3 (we join ours together as our little one is only 19 months). We would fit another child in to sleep comfortably, but wouldnt fancy 5 adults! The living area is big enough for you to sit around with modest kit. It doesnt have a SIG, but again this makes it quick to put up. Sometimes I think I would like a big tent with acres of space, but with a toddler tearing around whilst trying to put it up and lots of short trips I feel it is the right balance for us in terms of time to erect vs space. We can always upgrade in a few years as when children are bigger and need more space they are also more help/less hindrance when erecting and the Oregon 5 resells very well. I also love this tent as its so light and bright inside. Are there any tent shows near you? Try the Yeomans website for their shows which are starting now.

We have a Vango Vista 800, 2 pods at either side so plenty of room and still a massive area left in the middle for storage,eating etc.

 Took me and my wife 30mins to put up in Feb this year and the conditions wern't exactly brilliant.

Think you can pick them up for a bargain, cost us £99 from Go Oudoors but don't know how much they are now

look at the new quechua 4 person tent, or get a base tent and add on 2 or even 3 of the pop up 2 second tents. You can have any configuration almost to suit your needs. I am looking at putting the 4 person vis a vis for the 3 kids (2 boys in one room and the girl in the other) then attaching that tent to the biggest base, the hexagonal one as the big communal living area, then attaching to that, one of the square bases with an inner tent inside for me and OH to sleep. I reckon i could get a huge tent that takes less than 5 minutes to erect and put away.
This is the 4 person vis a vis, (which incidently would give your kids their own private space away from the communal areas)

Don't know if this is helpful, but if setting up quickly is a main priority then it is worth a look. Quick set up needn't mean small and pokey.

Do Quechua tents have a reputation of being a bit leaky? Thats a genuine question, as I am not someone in the know about these things and cant remember where I heard it, but it looks really impressive

What about the Vango Icarus 500, they say its very quick to put up and has two bedroom pods and decent size living area, and has SIG. Camping shop confirmed that the Vango large canopy will fit and you can get last years model for approx £35, this would make your living space much bigger too. Getting ours next week.
