Hi

Can anyone recommend a tent with 4 separate sleeping areas? We will be taking 4 kids ranging from 7m to 18 so we need to segregate them a bit!

Looking for a fairly cheap tent though that isnt gonna cause probs due to it being too big for most pitches.

Have looked at the Vango diablo 900 and the Hartford XXL (?)

Can anyone mention any others?

Cheers Kim

We have hartford xl and although great tent we have had problems finding sites that can take us (7mx7m). With 4 pods you may have problems also. In hindsight I should have gone for a tunnel tent as you still get the space but more compact and will fit onto most standard pitches. I would check out the dimensions of tents when pitched  and ?ring a few sites you fancy to see if will take you. We have had to buy a second tent for such occasions. Hope this helps

How about a Royal Montpellier 12? They are not 'easily' available as they are discontinued but i know some websites still have them. 4 sleeping pods, large living area, front porch and SIG.

I like the layout of the Sunncamp Vario 900 , the quality of the living space looks much better to me that in either a vis-a-vis tunnel or a multi-pod dome. Also, although its a big tent it will fit onto most pitches unlike a giant dome! You'd also have the option of leaving the extra annexe bedrooms at home if the older children chose not to come along one time.

The reviews read well too.

I was looking at the Ohio XL today. It is not cheap but does have lots of options and may fit on more pitches as it is tunnel tent type.

It only has 3 pods (3 bed, 2 bed and 1 bed) but as it has a front canopy we though you could easily pup a small pup tent under that at night for an older child. That would give them their own space but they would still be really close.

If you see a family struggling to put up the tent then it must be us!

Hi Kim, have you thought about pup tents, when we started we all slept in a small four-man tent which as we all know is good for sleeping two, so as Brats grew up, instead of larger tent, purchased pup tents, and Brats loved it, still room in main tent for meals etc, only bought Lichfield as was great bargain, pup tents are inexpensive and could give you breathing room for a few years till perfect tent comes along, as i`m sure it will.

Hi Kim

we are downsizing from our Khyam Ridgipod Excelsior which has two zip in pods as well as capacity to add another (its just we only have the two) Each pod is extremely roomy and sleeps 4 with ease. We also use a four birth porch inner. The beauty of this design is that it is versatile and you take what you need. If you want to know more then do get in touch and I'll send you some pics. We are looking to sell. Its in good condition with groundsheets, etc.

Cheers

Laurence

We also have the Excelsior Rigipod with the extra pods and the porch liner, but no sooner had we got it and our kids all started to become teenagers and wanted their own pup tents! It may cost a few quid more each night to stay (on some sites anyway), but it still has to be cheaper than a whole new tent!

Hi all

Thanks for your replies.

As our oldest has Autism a pup tent isnt really suitable- need him to be under the same roof!!

Ive had a look at the Monty 12 and that still seems to be the fav with the best reviews.

Cheers Kim

We have an Outwell Georgia XL which has three pods, but huge living area. It is of a similar ilk to the Diablo 900 and Harford XL.

We are going to sell this tent with the footprint groundsheet as I have a bad back and struggle with camping these days and my kids (6+4) can't help pitch the tent!
