OMG I'm even more confused now thanks to Marilyn51:), just been looking on the united british caravans site and have seen the Wynnster Cygnus 8, things are just getting worse.

Think iv'e ruled out the Vango Kuru, but still like the ourwell Iowa 6 (which Ive seen in the flesh), but fancy the porch of the Wynnster Saturn 6 (which only seen on the net).

But now Wynnster Cygnus 8 is in the running, so i'm going to nip up to United Caravans this afternoon to see if I can see it in the flesh. However would this fit on most site, as I've been reading about pitch sizes etc and am a little confused.

Many thanks once again for all replies.

I think that is probably the best thing do to, it is a bit too easy to be tempted by lots of tents online, but actually seeing them, having a poke around and getting a 'feel' for them is really the only sure way of deciding if it is the tent for you.

Best of luck, whatever you decide.

Hi

Well been to UBC today and picked up my new tent, after having a good look at them all and weighing up the pro's & con's of each decided that the Wynnster Eagle 6 was the one for us. So hoping to have a go at pitching it in the garden this afty although we only have a small garden so don't no how we'll get on.

Marilyn51 many thanks for the recommendation i'm well pleased with the tent.

Hi Cleveamb,

I'm sooooo pleased you've managed to get fixed up and I'm sure you'll like the Eagle 6. I am longing to get away in ours but I am booked up for the next couple of weekends with an engagement party and then a wedding in Northern Ireland so hopefully it will be the weekend after that.

I hope you have a big garden. The tent is 7.45 mtrs long x 475 mtrs wide before guy ropes. We went to Northumberland park in Washington to put ours up because you can park right beside the area & don't have too far to carry the tent. I presume you live quite local but I'm sure there will be a park near you where you could give it a better try out than the garden.

Good luck with it and don't forget UBC is the best in the area for most things camping.

OMG well so pleased I went up today then.

Haven't managed to get it up in the garden definately too big lol.

Problem I have now is do I take the small tent when we go away at the weekend (which will be a total squash lol)or do I take a chance on pitching the new one up for the first time on site. Obviously we would love to take the Eagle but need to know I'll be ok.

Any views on this will be really appreciated it.

Thanks again Marilyn.

We got an Eagle 6 ready to go this weekend. As camping newbies we set up ours in the local park with no problems in about 30 minutes. As I understand it if others see you struggling they will help anyway.

Thanks morknmindy, 30 minutes sounds good i'd be very happy if we can get it up in that time.

Think it will be hard to leave it at home now, the kids are pestering to take it lol.

Just go for it. I know you'll be pleased you did if only to stop the nogging of the kids.

Are you going far?

Just a footnote. I think it's a bit late to get a footprint groundsheet but a cheap tarp or something similar from the likes of B & Q would be a big help in:-

  1) protecting your sig from stones etc.

  2) easier to clean all the mud off than cleaning a sig.

  3) a little more insulation - could be handy looking at the weather forecast.

Hi Marilyn51 (we must stop meeting like this)

Thanks for all the help and advice. really cant thank you enough, once I had a good look at all the tents I new the Eagle was the right one for us, just ticked all the boxes and the porch was an extra bonus.

Will try and get to B & Q tomorrow for a tarp and hopefully when I have more time get a footprint for the tent.

Once again many thanks.
