You shouldn't have trouble with either since they're both less than 5m wide (no sticky out bits to get you banned/surcharged) - length isn't an issue with campsites generally. And they're both the same length anyway.

I've got the M (4 berth) and would say that this is one of those rare tents that comfortably takes the number of people it says it does. Two of us have absolutely loads of room in ours

  • How many of you are there?
  • Do you need three bedrooms rather than two
  • Is the extra room over an already huge tent worth another £70 or so?
  • Will you be OK pitching a heavy tent?
  • Is there room in the car?

I've seen the XL pitched and it's seriously huge.

Whichever, you'll have a brilliant tent!

All I can say is welcome to Vermont heaven!  I absolutely love our Vermont L and we are 2ad/2 sprogs and we fit it just perfectly.  I love the wardrobe - very glamping and the fact that the front porch has a zip up enclosed door is marvellous.  I must say that I've been looking at Outwell's 2009 offering and the new tents just don't seem to quite match up.  Deciding if you need the XL really will depend if you need the extra bedroom.  If you are 4 people or less then the L really is very spacious.  Whichever you decide you have made a sterling choice - Enjoy!

I too am looking for a Vermont L or XL- was dead set on hartford until seeing them all pitched yesterday at a Yeomans show....the Vermont L and XL are both abaolutely fab, the living space etc is spot on - and the canopy enclosed bit at the front can also open up fully if sunny, it's just brilliant. I was thinking the xl offers us a bit more versatility if extra people stay with us etc.....

On a seperate note I am hankering after a bargain though as £649 is a little over the £500 I had in mind. Sadly there was an L for sale on the classifieds on here yesterday and right near me. I emailed yesterday 8ish pm and still for sale. By 11pm someone lucky had bought :( gutted!

Anyway rambling now but if anyone knows a good place to buy a bargain vermont I would love to hear :)

Thanks to all. There is only the two of us but our tent seems to be the one everyone comes to at night or raining or food time!!!!!!

At the moment the large seems to be the one but keep thinking that extra space could mean the diff of me on a seat or outside on the bbq. Still some thinking to do????

any other comments much needed before the plunge hopefully at the end of the month.Going away this weekend in our old Eurohike Buckingham and expecting to be cold. [no sig] wind is a bit breezy
