I had a great time with the new Orchy 400, it is just the perfect size, with plenty of room. A big thumbs up from me!

We stayed at Climping Camp site, which has only been open for seven weeks. Everything was good there, and its a short walk to the Black Horse Inn, and the beach.

I have heard that maybe the Orchy will be discontinued next year, if that is true, it is a real shame.

Got an Orchy 400 in 2009.  The first time I used it it blew every way possible as the wind kept changing direction .  It did survive with many extra  guy ropes fastened on with clingons but I never felt safe enough or confident enough to use it again.  This summer I gave it to my daaughter (how kind of me ) and the same thing happened despite parking car as a wind break in front. An elderly couple had a 600 a few yards further on than us and they gave up and left a couple of hours before ours gave up the ghost .It went lock stock and barrel into the bin.  Would not want another experience like that  !

PamJ. I know this doesn't help matters but Vango redesigned the front poles on all later models to stop your problem from happening.

For that it's worth my Orchy600 stood up to 75 mph gusts earlier in the year at Watersidehouse Farm on the shores of Uleswater. My wife and I watched in horror as several tents blew away, but our Orchy stood firm, not a tear or broken pole in site.

In my opinion no other manufacturer can touch Vango for durability vs cost.

Its all water under the bridge now.  I only had Outwell tents till the Orchy and I'm back with Outwell now < a Minesotta 6 with Canopy,  happy to stay with Outwell although my weekend tent is an Easycampl Boston 400 , thats stood up to some winds.  PamJ

I am sooo in love with my new Vango Orchy 500 :)  Have now bought the footprint and carpet and cant wait to try these out on the next camp.  Looking for an extension or canopy to fit if anyone knows where I can find one :)

Vicky

Is anyone out there still using their Orchy tent?

Our Orchy 400 has finally given up the ghost after years of good, solid service. It's been through weeks of torrential rain, 40+ degree heat & freezing temperatures & has coped with it all brilliantly. It has been a fab tent - easy to put up, nice & stable & just the right size for us.

However, we've ended up with leaks in the groundsheet & along the dome roof seams. Really sorry to see it go as it was a fab tent but looking forward to using our new tent - an Outwell Nevada MP which we bought yesterday.

What tent did you all go on to after an Orchy if you've moved on?
