I have just order an Icarus 500 and footprint groundsheet...

I love the thought of all the headroom and the easy pitch.... should be plenty big enough for me and the other half.... :)

this is spooky, i was just looking at ordering a new weekend tent and this one kept turning up on every website i looked at, but i am just trying to work out if it is 1 or 2 sleeping pods. some sites i have looked at show two seperate sleeping rooms.

Only looking at it as a weekender, 2 adults 1 child and a puppy. but they do grow up.

I will wait till the wine has worn off before making a decision LOL

i keep putting off buying a tent but this one seems really good. It is so hard to pick from the vast array of options to a novice like me. Only concerns for me are only 2000 hh, one bedroom, and stability issues. Any views? Help!!!

To save a bit of money, if i had to choose one, is it best to get the footprint groundsheet or the carpet for the icarus?

The carpet .
You can make a footprint out of a cheap tarpaulin from B&Q .

I too am eyeing up an Icarus 500. My concern is that it is marketed as a weekend tent but I wanted to get it for longer camping trips to replace an Oggie Kalahari that is getting rather leaky.

Only two of us, would it be OK for a week or so?

After viewing both the Icarus 500 and Tigris 400  next to each other this weekend, I've plumped for the Tigris 400. The poles are thicker, and therefore stronger, better HH (although i doubt it really makes much difference), and although I have to duck very slightly in the bedroom pod of the Tigris, the lounge space felt to have a bigger usable space. The whole tent seemed just a bit more homely and felt as though it would stand up to the elements a bit more.

My test pitch went very well...

I have been camping twice previously and this tent went up with only my girlfriend helping by holding a pole upright while i pegged in within 15mins first time.

Now I have done it once it'll easily be up within 10 minutes...

I personally like this tent for one sole reason.... headroom!

I can standup in both compartments and I am 6'4"...

I did look at the Tigris 400 but I plumped for this as I prefer the height and design...

The TBS system looks like it would help in strong winds and I have used tents with HH2000 for camping in torrential rain without issue.

This should be more than ample for a week away with just two/three and loads of room for a weekend trip...

I went for the footprint too and it actually makes pitching even easier... my pictures are on the review section...

All round a great tent...

-John
