hi ive been trying to find a review on the Gelert Beyond Orion 3 tent but cant find any anywhere? hopefully someone can share there thoughts about it. is it bomb proof? it has a hydrostatic head - 5000mm should be.is the porch area big enough to sit in with camping chairsand all your kit? im swaying between this and spirit 200+ but its a bit more expensive the spirit, thanks for any input.

I picked up a Gelert Beyond for my son, his is a lightweight backpacking tent for two people with a small porch area just big enough for a couple of pairs of boots!! sure its an orion 3......
i ended up getting the vango omega 350,looks a good tentbit on the heavy side but thought i could split the weight between two, then i found out you cant remove the inner beddin area from flysheet to split the weight :(
Ooops!! Looks like a handy tent, but not much good if you're back packing.
I shouldn't think there are many tents that you can carry that have much storage/living space. My son was very happy with his tent, but he's only 14yrs old and doesn't consider what he would do if it rained a lot........ get on his mobile and phone for a taxi probably!! LOL I was happy coz we got an absolute bargain, £20 brand new from the gelert shop!!

I bought the vango spirit 200+ on its spec , put it up in the garden and decided it was too fiddly threading the 3 poles through very tight sleeves- I prefer the vaude with more open mesh external pole sleeves. Having said that it has a really big, useful porch but I don't think it would be high enough to sit comfortable inside it in camping chairs-plenty of space to store them though. The vango is more of a technical tunnel tent for very windy conditions halfway up a mountain - you can also seperate the inner from the flysheet. I am selling mine as I have never used it
