Hi all

I have seen these pop up tents several times, And am wondering if they will be suitable for me. I often go walking and camping with 3 other guys and usually go in 1 car , so space in the car is important, These pop ups seem to go very small, and speed at getting them up is also important as we uusually get to campsites friday night 30 mins before last orders.

Any advice on these ie are they waterproof and can they stand a bit of wind will be very helpful. I know they can be a bit of trouble packing away but sure we will get some practice at it.(seen someone on a campsite getting lets say alittle anoyed with it)

Iam looking for a four man if possible

If you intend camping and not just using the tent as a shelter then only consider a 'pop up' with a seperate inner tent. single skin tents are prone to condensation. I use a quechua 2' tent which is waterproof and draft proof. I would say its big enough for one to be comfortable. Packed its a 60cm discus which could be strapped around a rucksack. I normally have it strapped to a motorcycle.

Due to their shape the door is not vertical, in wet weather this can allow water inside the tent when leaving/entering. This is the only disadvantage I've witnessed.

Do not practice putting up and taking down your tent inside the house !!! Yes I did!

Erecting is easy . Putting down is also easy, you just have to remember you're dealing with figure of eights, and don't be afraid of breaking it - you have to boss it. For four people you'll probably be looking at Quecha's base tent. You woudn't put that on a rucksack! you can see these tents at www.decathlon.co.uk
