Good Afternoon... it's my first post, so please go easy on me

Looking to going camping with a couple of other families in a month or so.. it'll be our first ever venture into the camping world, and I am after some advice about the right kind of tent to purchase. Just to give you a bit of background of what we might need...

We are a family of three (incl. daughter aged 3). We would like a tent that is not so cheap that it'll put us off for life, but also not so expensive that it's money down the drain if we never go again.. maybe around £100 - £200 ? (appreciate that there are going to be other expenses other than just the tent!)

Initially we would only be using it for weekends away, although this may eventually become weeks away if we enjoy the experience. Tent would need to be fairly easy to erect, preferably by one person (or with a little help from second person). We have a large car (Scenic) so the size / bulkiness of the tent shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Would like to be able to stand in the tent, and also have some space other than the sleeping area. I suppose two bedrooms would also be better, for when daughter gets older, but ideally room for at least one double airbed.

Two tents that have been mentioned to me so far are the Outwell Nevada 3, the Vango Orchy 600 or the Khyam Winnipeg... I know nothing about these, or indeed any other more suitable tents that may be out there.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Many Thanks

Craig

There are lots and lots of tents to choose from from the criteria you have given.

Vango Icarus 500

Vango Tigris 400

Outwell Oregan 5

Sunncamp Evolution 400

All of the above are good tents. Check them out.

If it's ease of pitching that you're after, the Khyams take some beating, if they use the QE system.   Not too expensive these days either....

Thanks for the advice. Must admit, I really like the look if the Vango Icarus 500... will try and take a look at it at the weekend.

The nevada 3 would be a bit on the small side for 3 of you, it would be cosy for 2 for weekends, but not much living area , due to the slope of the front.
for a family of 3 you want at least a 4 or 5 berth .
Not a very big living space in the khyam either .

the ones mantrachant said are all good tents and easy to pitch as is the orchy. Check out the tent reviews at the top of the page.

Our 1st tent was the Coleman Lakeside 4. It was really easy to put up and had a good living room height and area. It stood up to some pretty awful weather last year and we never had any problems with it. It does only have a flat groundsheet though and not a sewn in one. Not sure if that is an issue for you. You can pick them up for about £99 now.

Good Luck with your search and Happy Camping

This special edition Outwell might be ideal and i am sure your little one would love the kids room.
