Hi guys,

Well it sure is a minefield out there when it comes to choosing the right tent for the right price etc!

So far, i've reached a decision that for my family needs, I should invest in a tunnel tent with a sewn in ground sheet, Preferably with seperate sleeping areas for when the kids (boy 9 and girl 2) get a bit olderand the option of a sun awning/porch in the future.

I like the three door tunnels with one either side of the centre and an end door, (although that's not a necessity).

Read loads of reviews on here re the 'well known' brands and have unsuccessfully bid on fleabay for a few, namely Vango Vista 800, Khyam Kansas, (love it, but it's a bit steep for us at the mo brand new), etc. and have visited Outdoor World and Geat Outdoors but to no avail

We are relatively new to camping although we did have a tourer, so there is also a few other bits I need to pick up prior to starting out, namely gas bottle, kitchen and eating tables, so we are on a bit of a budget.

Just noticed the Skandika range on fleabay, namely the 'Scirroco' and the 'Gotland'.

There are one or two reviews on various Skandika models, but not enough to convince me that they represent value for money at the mo, probably because they're a lot cheaper than the 'well known' brands.

Has anyone got a Skandika, who via this thread, can recommend or disapprove of investing in one.

Your valid opinion is urgently required!

Many thanks, Mike.

Hi

At the top of the page is a Tent REview Button if you click on that there are 5 reviews for Skandika Tents.  So not a lot but maybe that will give you an idea?

We had a Skandika Kopenhagen & loved it, never leaked, had a tree fall on it & squashed it half way down, cut the tree off & it popped back up again , no damage.
Not the dearest or the cheapest about but for the money do the job.
Coming from Germany the P&P is good too,got ours less than 48 hrs after ordering, Royal Mail would charge more for an envelope to arrive some time this year.
Thing is, its cheap enough for you to get started & work out what you really need, also what you dont need but keep carrying every time you go away but thats another story.
You can upgrade later & still have a tent the kids can take if they want to go off for a weekend as they get older.(whoops, just seen their ages, it wont last that long )Anyway they are better than Rage or Storm USA so if moneys tight, try one you might be pleasantly surprised but not as surprised as us when we heard the squirrels bouncing off the tent as the tree came down.

I'm confused

All of the Skandika reviews on this site are good?

I've been looking into purchasing one of these too!

Nikki :)

We've got a skandika Milano 6 and took it camping for a week in kent when it was very stormy, ( wind and heavy rain). the only leak was from the rain getting in through the mesh vents. And when we took the tent down one of the shock cords in the overhead strut snapped. There is loads of room and yes it isn't top range but then it's cheaper.
