Hi - been camping for a few years now and the time has come when my son can progress to his own tent. How big do most sites allow as "pup tents"? Just looking at a few and am impressed by a couple, particularly the Quechua 2 seconds II but don't know if its too big! Don't really want the one man one in case he takes a friend.

Thanks for that, I take it by 'here' you mean the netherlands? Is there not a UK guide? Or do they vary widely site-by-site?
I think it is a general rule. Usually a 2 person tent is considered to be ok
Kathryn, The Arizona L is a great tent. Plenty of room and full standing height so it's not really a pup tent as such. I don't know how old your daughter is but this tent will certainly see her through many, many years. Maybe she can 'grow' with it.
Funny - I was wondering exactly the same.
I'm getting a 'pup' tent for Emma and was only today thinking about size - how big or small does it have to be to be a 'pup' tent.
Very nice. I was thinking that some sites don't charge for pup tents and some do. I think the idea of 'pup' means small. If you try to pitch the Arizona L then you wouldn't get away without paying surely. I know because I did have an Arizona L and I have just sold it as I couldn't erect it solo. It's very tall. It definitely needs 2 people to get it up and that's the mistake I made.If Kathryn's daughter sticks with camping she has got one lovely tent there.
